Actor-turned-politician Kushboo Sundar resigned from the Congress on Monday with a letter to party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi saying, “people who’ve no connectivity with ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms”.

This comes amid reports that the 50-year-old, who flew from Chennai to Delhi on Sunday, was set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Khushboo, who has been with the Congress since 2014, wrote in the letter, “few elements seated at higher level within the party, people who’ve no connectivity with ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms and people like me who wanted to work for the party sincereley, are being pushed and suppressed,” reports ANI.

If Khushboo joins the BJP, it would be her second political shift, the first being from the DMK to the Congress in 2014. This would be a good boost for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, the state that goes to polls in 2021.
