India is known as a hometown for festivals and Janmashtami is one of them as  it is the day when Lord Krishna was born.  According to hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu was reincarnated as Lord Krishna and that day is counted according to the Hindu lunar month. He was born on the 8th day and every year we celebrate it keeping the same count.

While many people fast, chant mantras, do puja, make prasad, another aspect that makes this festival beautiful is the way all of us  decorate mandirs and homes with rangoli. So why not you also try some at home on the auspicious occasion.

Here are few design inspirations:

Lord Krishna Rangoli designer: This Rangoli design  includes the Lord himself  and is very enchanting.  One could try a big rangoli board for this with the background colour used as sea-green. Krishna’s inner body is filled with lighter shade of blue whereas outlined with a much darker shade. One can also decorate the lord with bangles and neck-jewellery  along with peacock feather and flute which depict holiness.

Krishna’s flute rangoli: Krishna loves his flute and If you are not someone who is great in making Rangolis then a simple flute deign is perfect for you. You can make a peacock feather along with the flute. To make it even easier, make an outline of the rangoli and then start with the inner design.

Little Krishna with dahi handi: Beautiful rangoli design which has an little Lord Krishna alongside the hanging vessel is perfect for this occasion. The hanging vessel portrays the celebration of Dahi Handi which is celebrated in many regions at the time of Janmashtami. 

Floral rangoli: If you are a beginner, you can try making rangoli with flowers or floral petals. Use white, orange and red floral petals to make a nice and colourful design

Happy Janmashtami rangoli: The most easiest of all, you can even use a stencil to make this rangoli. This rangoli can be accompanied by bansuri, flowers and makkan handi to make it look more attractive.
