Late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar‘s brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar, during an appearance on the musical reality show ‘Naam Reh Jaega’, revealed that his sister wasn’t happy when she won the Bharat Ratna. Lata was the eldest of the five siblings Meena, Asha, Usha, and Hridaynath.
“She always wanted me to win an award, that was her dream. When she won the Bharat Ratna, she didn’t celebrate it, but when I got a Padma Shri, she celebrated it like a festival,” he said.
Hridaynath along with his sister Usha Mangeshkar recalled some of the fondest memories with their late sister.
They revealed that Lata Mangeshkar was open to feedback and it was her sister Meena Mangeshkar’s feedback that mattered the most to her.
“Meena-tai used to always stay with Lata-didi during the recording. After recording in the studio, Lata-di would ask Meena-tai for her thoughts on the song. She would only give a go-ahead for the song after Meena’s approval. She trusted her a lot,” Usha said.
