Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that West Bengal should vote for BJP in the next assembly election, not just for political transformation, but for real transformation, reported ANI. “Lotus will bring that ‘asol poribartan’ that the Bengal youth aims for,” he said. Modi was addressing a public meeting in West Bengal’s Hooghly district.

Modi added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will build a Bengal where religion and ability will be respected and everybody can experience development.

“BJP will work for such a ‘Sonar Bangla’ which will strengthen Bengal’s history & culture. A Bengal where faith, spirituality and enterprise will be respected; where development will be for all and appeasement of none. A Bengal which will be ‘tolabaji-mukt’ and ‘rojgar-yukt’,” the prime minister said.

He further said that West Bengal has been an important centre for India’s self-reliance. “There’s tremendous potential for trade and business with northeast and neighbouring nations from here. Keeping this in mind, serious efforts have been made in the past few years to strengthen the rail network,” Modi asserted.

He inaugurated several railway projects in West Bengal on Monday.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led government, Modi said, “People who talk about maa-maati-manush have become a wall in front of the development of Bengal. The money deposited by the central government for farmers and the poor goes directly into these people’s bank account.”

He also slammed Banerjee for allegedly delaying the availability of free healthcare treatment in West Bengal.
