Former adult movie star Mia Khalifa has been vocal about the ongoing farmers’ protest in India, for which she has received both backlash and applause. Taking to Twitter on Monday, she questioned the silence of “Mrs Jonas”, in an apparent reference to actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas, on the issue. She went on to compare her silence on the farmers’ protest to that of singer Shahira’s on Beirut blast.
“Is Mrs. Jonas going to chime in at any point? I’m just curious. This is very much giving me shakira during the Beirut devastation vibes. Silence,” Mia tweeted.
Chopra last spoke on the ongoing protests in December.
“Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later,” she had tweeted.
