The long-anticipated fifth and final season of the crime drama ‘Money Heist’ dropped
on Netflix on Friday, leaving fans with a mixed bag of emotions as the Spanish series
hurtles towards a high-octane conclusion.

The show,
called ‘La Casa Del Papel’ in Spanish, enjoys immense popularity on a global scale,
as the nerve-racking plot twists has kept fans on the edge of their seats for years. The team of bank robbers, led by their mastermind ‘The Professor’, has once again left viewers biting their nails with a cliffhanger ending to the
first part of the final season, with the apparent death of one of the central
characters ‘Tokyo’.

Another
great twist in the story came when Itziar Ituno’s character ‘Lisbon’, who was a
police officer, changed sides and joined the gang of robbers. However, a large
number of fans were not happy with this move, as they questioned her loyalties
and couldn’t understand why she would join The Professor just weeks after first
meeting him.

In an
interview with News 18 recently, Ituno shed light on what she thinks about her
character. “Well, I think she’s right, speaking now, but I would have made the
same decision to leave and go with the good guys who are the ones in the bank
actually and face this unjust world. And I love it because she’s very brave,”
the 47-year-old Spanish actress told News 18.

“It is not
very usual to see things going that way in real life, probably, but I think
she’s right. Maybe going into the bank and rob a bank with a sick mother and a
daughter is something I would have given a second thought to. But I do like her
decisions,” she added.

Meanwhile,
Rodrigo de la Serna’s character ‘Palermo’ has also faced criticism, as his
decisions in the earlier seasons led to the death of another fan-favourite
character ‘Nairobi’.

“Well, he’s
a broken man, he just wants to fulfil his mission, which is the heist as he
planned with his beloved Berlin. And at the end of the fourth season, he was
largely responsible for the death of Nairobi, and he’s more broken now. So,
he’s going to search for this redemption. And I believe he’s going to take
better care of the team and he’s not going to be a cynic and violent. So that’s
what’s in for him in this fifth system,” he said about his character’s
development in the upcoming season.

Darko Peric,
who portrays the role of ‘Helsinki’, said his character got global popularity
because of his involvements with Nairobi earlier. “I think it was in the third
and the fourth season, for me, where my character with all the story with
Nairobi- I think there is where my character got global popularity,” he said.

The first
part of the final season includes five episodes with five more due to arrive on
December 3.
