The Mughalsarai assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh (UP) saw Chabu Patel of the Indian National Congress (INC) take on Ramesh Jaiswal of the BJP, Ishad Ahmed of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Chandra Shekhar Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), and Sajid Ali of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Sadhana Singh of the BJP had won the seat in 2017 Assembly elections, defeating runner-up Babulal of the SP by a margin of 13,243 votes.

In the 2012 Assembly election, BSP’s Babban had won the seat by defeating the SP’s Babulal by a margin of 15,440 votes.

The Mughalsarai assembly constituency falls under the Chandauli district in UP and is one of the five assembly constituencies under the Chandauli Lok Sabha constituency.

The Mughalsarai assembly constituency voted in the seventh phase of the UP Assembly elections in 2022 on March 7, when 54 assembly seats, spread across 9 districts, went to the polls. UP is voting in seven phases, and the last phase was held on March 7.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with results of elections being held in other states and Union Territories (UTs).
