Liger is a sports drama movie starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday. The movie made a multilingual release on August 25, 2022. The movie was announced back in 2019. The title Liger was announced in January 2021. 

The filming of the movie began on January 20, 2020, in Mumbai. The movie was tentatively titled Fighter. The production was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second schedule of the film was shot in Hyderabad in February 2021. 

In an interview with Mid-Day, the Arjun Reddy star mentioned that “we filmed some portions in Mumbai, followed by a song in Goa”. In 2021, the actor stated that they also have a schedule abroad, saying, “The location is uncertain yet, we were considering Europe, but now Abu Dhabi is an option.”

In November 2021, Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday with the Liger team jetted off to Las Vegas to shoot the portions of the film with Mike Tyson. After completing the Las Vegas schedule, the makers resumed the film’s shoot in Los Angeles. Charmme Kaur shared the photo of the shoot and wrote, “Team #LIGER says Helloooooooo from Los Angeles #USAschedule (sic).”

The filming was completed in February 2022. In the upcoming movie, the Arjun Reddy star will be portraying the role of a boxer. When the actor was asked about how he has maintained his physique throughout the lockdown, he said he has worked out every single day, “Initially, we felt the lockdown will end in three months; then we assumed it would be six months.”

The actor stated that the uncertainty that dawned with the pandemic helped him to be shoot-ready. The actor underwent a dramatic physical transformation for his role and went to Thailand for martial arts training.
