A 26-year-old man from Nagpur, Maharashtra has been arrested for allegedly killing his roommate, authorities confirmed. Police officials say that after the incident, on Saturday night, the accused slept off in the same room.

An argument broke out between Raju Nandeshwar, 35, and the accused Devansh Waghode who share a rented room. Waghode allegedly stabbed Nandeshwar in his head using a sharp object, killing him on spot, an official said, as per PTI reports.

However, as per officials, after the alleged killing, Waghode dumped the body on an open plot, cleaned the room and slept. 

The two were car mechanics and worked at a garage. The incident came to light after some locals spotted a body lying on the ground near the room.

Waghode was booked on the charge of murder under the Indian Penal Code, the official added.

In a case reported in April, a man was arrested in Masuri town here for allegedly killing his 66-year-old mother by repeatedly hitting her with a brick for refusing to give him Rs 1 lakh.  The incident took place when the woman, Ramrati, was sleeping outside a room in a wheat field owned by her. 

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said that on the basis of a tip-off, the accused was arrested from Ikla village, adding that he has been identified as Bhagat Singh.

During interrogation, he confessed to having killed his mother.

He told the police that he was in dire need of Rs 1 lakh to get his house plastered and that her mother, despite “having a good bank balance”, had refused to give him the money.

Singh reached the field where his mother was already present. The son then killed the elderly woman by hitting her thrice with a brick, the police had said.
