Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew to
Ladakh and interacted with Indian soldiers on Friday, Former Congress boss Rahul
Gandhi took a dig at the PM and questioned his previous statement over Chinese
intrusion.

Rahul shared a video on his Twitter handle, with a
caption – “Ladakhis say: China took our land. PM says: Nobody took our land.
Obviously, someone is lying.”  In his
video, residents of Ladakh could be seen accusing China of occupying Indian Territory
in the region.

PM Modi’s visit to the eastern Ladakh comes days after violent clashes at Galwan Valley near Line of Actual Control (LAC) on June 15 in which 20 soldiers were killed and over 70 injured.
The prime minister’s move is seen as morale-booster for the soldiers.

PM Modi, who interacted with personnel of
the Army, Air Force and ITBP in Leh, was accompanied by
Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat and Army Chief M M Naravane.

He visited an army camp before meeting injured soldiers
in a military hospital. “In these difficult circumstances, you are the
shield of the motherland,” said Modi, sporting a khaki green parker
jacket, aviator sunglasses and baseball cap of the “Fire and Fury”
corps stationed there.

“The enemies of Mother India have seen your
fire and fury”, without naming China, Modi added that the “era of
expansionism is over… History has shown how expansionism pushed humanity
towards destruction.”

Rahul Gandhi has been criticising the government over the Chinese aggression along the LAC.  He has accused the prime minister of “surrendering” Indian land to China.

Rejecting the attacks, BJP chief JP Nadda had counter-attacked the Congress leader saying, “A dynast throws tantrums and his courtiers peddle a fake narrative… The nation is united and supportive of our armed forces.”
