Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has announced to start ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ project in Maharashtra amid surge in COVID cases and oxygen shortage. According to the statement, the project will facilitate the transportation of oxygen in Maharashtra, as the state is facing an unprecedented demand for medical oxygen.

“Today Oxygen is the key to reducing mortality. The problem is not of oxygen production but its transportation from producing plants to hospitals & homes” tweeted Mahindra.

A direct-to-consumer model will be followed and an operations control centre has been established to facilitate the process. The storage locations will be restocked from the local refilling plant.

“I made a commitment to CMO Maharashtra on Tuesday and in just 48 hours the Mahindra Logistics team launched the program in Pune and Chakan with 20 Boleros,” he said.

In the tweet thread, Mahindra also confirmed that 61 jumbo cylinders have been delivered to hospitals that were in dire need.
