Prime
Minster Narendra Modi has the highest approval rating among leaders of the world’s
13 leading nations, a survey conducted by Morning Consult via its Political
Intelligence unit has found. The data showed that PM Modi’s approval rating was
at 70% on August 31, more than United States President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister
Justin Trudeau among other leaders.

“This makes
PM Modi the most popular and accepted global leader in the world,” RPG Group
chairman Harsh Goenka tweeted.

According
to the survey, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was second in the list,
with a rating of 64%, while Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi was third with
a rating of 63%.

German Chancellor
Angela Merkel was fourth with a 52% approval rating, while Biden was fifth with a rating of 48%.

The survey
by Morning Consult showed that PM Modi’s disapproval rating was at its highest during
the peak of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020, when India
was overwhelmed with unprecedented daily infections and deaths.

At its
peak, PM Modi’s disapproval rating was at 84%. Currently, his disapproval is lowest among
major world leaders – at 25%. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s
disapproval rating is the highest in the list, at 64% followed by French
President Emmanuel Macron at 57%.

Spanish
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is third in the list, also at 57%, with Brazilian President
Jair Bolsonaro fourth with 54% and South Korean President Moon Jae-in in fifth
with a disapproval rating of 53%.
