President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several other political leaders wished people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesh. It is an 11-day festival and begins on the day of Chaturthi. On this day, devotees get Lord Ganesha’s idol at home, perform pujas, make offerings, worship God and then on the tenth day, immerse the idol in the water in the form of visarajan.

The PM tweeted, “Wish you all a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi. May this auspicious occasion bring happiness, peace, fortune and good health to everyone. Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

Ganesh Chaturthi is marked with a lot of pomp and show in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka, Odisha, Goa, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh. Since last two years, the celebrations have been muted due to COVID-19 pandemic.

President Kovind also wished people and wrote that he wishes Vighnaharta Ganesha makes everyone’s effort against COVID-19 successful and blesses everyone with happiness and peace. He reminded people to follow the COVID protocol when celebrating the festival.

Maharashtra and Delhi governments have banned public celebration of the festival keeping in view the pandemic.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, too, wished people in Odia.
