Following the death of a family member, Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel has left the IPL bio-bubble.

Harshal left the bubble after learning about the family tragedy shortly after the game against the Mumbai Indians, according to PTI.

Harshal has been RCB’s standout performer in recent seasons, taking two wickets in the team’s seven-wicket win over MI on Saturday night.

“Unfortunately, Harshal had to leave the bio-bubble due to a death in his family. It was his sister. He did not take the team bus back to Mumbai from Pune,” according to an IPL source.

“He will be rejoining the bubble before the next game against CSK on April 12.”

After making his debut last year, the 31-year-old has played eight T20Is.

Patel took 5 wickets (5-27) against the Mumbai Indians in the first match of the IPL 2021 on April 9, 2021, while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Harshal Patel is the first bowler in IPL history to claim a 5-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians. This is his best IPL bowling figure, and he also became the first player in IPL history to take a 5-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians. His five-wicket haul was also the third-best by an uncapped Indian player in the IPL.

Patel had 32 wickets by the end of IPL 2021, making him the highest Indian wicket-taker in a single season and joint-most with Dwayne Bravo.

Patel was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for 10.75 crores in the 2022 IPL auction.

On Tuesday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Chennai Super Kings.
