Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Anil Deshmukh, who has been running Maharashtra’s home ministry since 2019 on Sunday requested new revelations by CBI, pertaining to the Sushant Singh Rajput case. As reported by ANI, Deshmukh asked the investigating agency to clear the doubts about the actor’s death as soon as possible.
“It has been more than 5 months since the investigation began but CBI has not revealed if actor Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered or he died by suicide. I request CBI to reveal findings of the investigation at the earliest,” Anil Deshmukh told ANI on Sunday.
Rajput was found dead, hanging from a ceiling fan in his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. Mumbai Police’s initial reports said that he was suffering from depression for the past six months, but later major challenges were presented before the authorities, questioning the involvement of drugs, murder and a cover-up in the case.
Anil Deshmukh, who has been quite vocal about the case since the AIIMS report stated that there was no evidence of murder after a detailed autopsy. The Home Minister stood up for the government and asked the accusers to apologize to the state, early in October.
“Maharashtra was battling COVID-19. At such a time, a conspiracy was hatched to defame Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajs Maharashtra. Some parties tried to defame Maharashtra, Mumbai Police. They should apologise to Maharashtra or else, the people of Maharashtra will not forgive them,” the minister said on October 6.
Deshmukh was also involved in the discussion earlier when claims of shifting Bollywood to Uttar Pradesh caught heat. He can be quoted saying that, “Over 100 years ago a film industry was established here. I don’t think any other state could’ve provided the facilities that Mumbai has. We have better law and order. I am confident the film industry can’t go elsewhere. Let him (UP Chief Minister) make efforts.”
The CBI and ED have been involved in the case for approximately five months. Various celebrities were questioned and Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty saw a court trial. However, no conclusion has been drawn yet.
