Satya Paul, the mind behind the famous fashion brand known for its indigenous prints and elegant sarees, passed away on January 6, his son Puneet Nanda told Opoyi .
“He passed away very peacefully, lovingly and gently and there was no pain and suffering involved and that was the most wonderful thing that he was able to do it the way he wanted to. So we are happy for that,” said Nanda, who started the brand with him in the year 1985 and was its creative director till 2010.
He also paid tribute to his father in a long Facebook post in which he shared “few notes about his passing”
“He had a stroke on December 2 and as he was slowly recovering in the hospital, his only wish was to get all the things he was being monitored and poked with – removed so he could fly away. We finally got clearance from doctors to take him back to Isha Yoga Center, his home since 2015,” he wrote.
“As per his wish, he gently passed on with blessings of the Master,” he added.
Nanda added that “most people are not aware, more than as a designer or entrepreneur, he has been steadfastly a seeker.”
“ In the 70s, his inner journey started with going to listen to talks with J. Krishnamurty, later he took sannyas from Osho. After Osho left in 1990, though he wasn’t seeking another Master, he discovered Sadhguru in 2007. He immediately started enjoying the path of yoga and eventually moved here in 2015. He has been a doorway for hundreds of people towards spirituality and all the Masters he was so blessed to have been with,” he said.
Talking about what made them exit from the brand Satya Paul, Nanda told Opoyi that “It’s very simple.”
“ When you know there is more to life than making money and doing the profession of your choice…there is whole life beyond commerce and the material world so it was to peruse our inner well-being and inner journey and that was as simple as that,” said Nanda who has strong background in different forms of art like architecture, design to choreography.
