The death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14 last year had sent shock waves across the country. He was found dead at his Mumbai home. The actor was just 34.

His demise has given rise to a lot of conspiracy theories and a lot of hate has been spewed on his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty on social media after Sushant’s father filed an FIR accusing six people, including the actor, for abetment to suicide.

Rhea Chakraborty, 28, met Sushant Singh Rajput in 2013 when they were under the same manager and were working under Yash Raj Films (YRF). Since then, the duo had been good friends and shared an amicable relationship.

Soon after that, the two started meeting at various award functions. There were also pictures of the two hanging out in several places. Apparently, the duo’s love angle came to the limelight in 2019, when they were spotted together in a B-town party.

Until 2019, Sushant and Rhea had kept their rumoured relationship concealed. However, pictures from their Ladakh trip added much-needed fuel to the fire. Sushant and Rhea did not post any picture together, but their individual photos gave it away that they were together.

The two were spotted together in several casual and formal places after the trip. However, they dodged their way out when asked about their relationship status.

Rhea had once told The Times of India that they are nothing more than friends. “Neither Sushant Singh Rajput nor I have ever admitted that, so it’s not true. Sushant and I are really good friends. I’ve known him for eight years now. We were in YRF together and we had the same manager for a long period,” Rhea said.

Nevertheless, on Sushant’s birthday in 2019, Rhea almost made their relationship official by sharing a picture with him.

In August 2019, rumours started circulating regarding the two tying the knot. However, there was no confirmation about the same from the couple.

Months later, there were reports that the two had split but before much could be dug out, the unexpected news of Sushant’s death shook everyone. Sushant’s father Krishna Kishor Singh had made allegations against Rhea for abetment of suicide. She even spent 21 days in Mumbai’s Byculla prison in a drugs case related to actor’s death.

Unfortunately, Sushant and Rhea’s relationship ended on a tragic note and their beautiful love story turned into a tale of suspense.
