The T20 World Cup 2022 has commenced and has presented quite a few electrifying matches already.

India clinched back-to-back victories with a nail-biting win against arch-rivals Pakistan and a sweeping of the Netherlands. Apart from this, Ireland’s shocking victory over England and Zimbabwe’s victory over Pakistan have made the tournament an absolute must-watch.

All the teams in both groups A & B have played two matches and have three matches to go. In Group A, New Zealand leads the pack. The host Australia are in the third spot after beating Ireland.

On the other hand, in Group B, South Africa has secured a position at the top with India  following in the second place.

Here are the top run scorers so far in the T20 World Cup 2022:

Kusal Mendis- Sri Lanka (205 runs)

Since the beginning of the qualifiers, Mendis has been in stellar form. He has scored 205 runs in seven innings, at an average of 34.17 and a strike rate of 144.37.

He scored 79 runs off 44 balls against the Netherlands and was crowned the Player of the Match.

Lorcan Tucker – Ireland (191 runs)

Lorcan Tucker has been in good form this season. He sits at the top of the highest run scorers this edition with 191 runs bagged in six innings.

He is averaging at 47.75 with a strike rate of 128.19. Lorcan Tucker scored an unbeaten 71 against Australia on Monday, October 31, but Ireland were bowled out with 42 runs left to chase.

Glenn Phillips – New Zealand (178 runs)

Glenn Phillips has been pivotal for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2022. He played a crucial knock of 104 runs off 64 balls against Sri Lanka.

He has bagged 178 runs in just three innings. 

Dhananjaya de Silva – Sri Lanka (168 runs)

Another Sri Lankan on the list, de Silva has shown his class with the bat in the T20 World Cup 2022.

In seven innings, he has scored 168 runs at an average of 28.00. He produced an unbeaten knock of 66 runs to win it for the team against Afghanistan.

MP O’Dowd – Netherlands (161 runs)

Maxwell has put up impressive performances so far in the T20 World Cup 2022 and has scored 161 runs in six innings. He scored an unbeaten 71 off 53 deliveries against Sri Lanka. He currently is averaging at 32.20 and has a strike rate of 117.52.
