Babar Azam said that Pakistan’s batters’ disappointing performance led to the 1-run loss against Zimbabwe.

After the match, Babar admitted that he was disappointed with the team.

“We would have taken 130 at the halfway stage. Very disappointing performance, we are not up to the mark in batting. We have good batters but both openers got out in the powerplay. When Shadab and Shan were building partnership, unfortunately Shadab got out and then back-to-back wickets that pushed us into pressure situation,” Babar said during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Babar promised that Pakistan would learn from their mistakes and bring a win in the upcoming matches of the T20 World Cup.

“First six overs we are not using the new ball good. Later on we finished well. We’ll sit together and learn from our mistakes and come back hard next match,” Babar further said.

Despite putting a total of 130/8, Zimbabwe’s bowlers pulled off a performance that left Pakistan players shocked.

Pakistan’s chase had a rocky start, with 36-3 in the eighth over. However, by the end of the last over, Pakistan needed 11 runs to win the game.

In the first ball of the last over Mohammad Nawaz tried to collect a boundary but had to settle for a three. Mohammad Wasim hit a four. Pakistan got a single off the third ball.

They needed three off three, but failed to get a score in the fourth and fifth balls. It all came down to Pakistan needing a three off the last ball. Shaheen and Wasim tried to at least bring 2 runs on the board, which would have at least sent both the teams into a Super Over. However, Shaheen fell short, giving Zimbabwe the epic win against Pakistan.
