KL Rahul was dismissed for 9 runs caught leg before wicket by Paul Van Meekeren. India have had a slow start in the powerplay. KL Rahul has been out of form off late. In the match against Pakistan, Rahul scored only 4 runs.

For long, Rahul was reputed to play well against weaker teams in multinational tournaments. But his innings against Netherlands is indication that even weaker bowling attacks are putting the Indian opener to test.

India have been struggling with their opening pair. In the match against Pakistan, India were 10 for 2 chasing 160 runs until Virat Kohli came in and won a match-winning innings.

Against Netherlands, India have made a slow start scoring 32 runs in the powerplay with a run rate of just above six. Rohit Sharma was lucky after a missed catch let him stay in the middle. While Sharma has been looking to go after the bowlers, he hasn’t looked in great touch.

India have not changed their squad after the match against Pakistan deciding to keep the same playing XI so that players have enough time in the middle.

Earlier, Rohit
Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. He said team morale is really
high after the victory against Pakistan but the team understands that they need
to keep their calm. “We have to calm ourselves and look forward to this game.
We want to keep improving no matter what the results are, it is always keeps
you in good stead when you are thinking like that.”

“It is important
for us to keep ticking those boxes. Touch slower I guess from what we played in
Melbourne. The pitch has been used for 40 overs so I expect it is going to be
slightly slower. We are used to playing such tracks. We are playing the same
team.”

Netherlands captain Edward Scott said he too would have liked to bat first.
