Tata Projects Limited has won the contract to build the new Parliament building at a cost of Rs 861.90 crore, news agency PTI reported quoting officials.
Larsen and Toubro was the other company which had reached the final round of bidding with Rs 865 crore bid.
Redevelopment of the Parliament building is part of the Modi government’s Central Vista project. The work on the project is likely to begin after the Monsoon Session.
The design of the new Parliament building will be completely different from the present British-era structure.
The new Parliament building will be constructed close to the existing one and the construction is expected to be completed in 21 months.
According to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the new building will come up at plot number 118 of the Parliament House Estate, news agency PTI reported.
