In the 3rd and final ODI against England, former Indian captain Virat Kohli was dismissed by Reece Topley for 17 runs. After bowling out Jos Buttler and co for 259 in the first innings, the Men in Blue were 222/5 in 39.2 overs.
Kohli again looked in good touch today. He hit three boundaries during his 22-ball stay before nicking Topely for a catch behind stumps. With the dismissal, the former India skipper recorded a new low.
Virat Kohli has failed to score more than 20 runs in his last five ODI innings, which is a first in his career.
The run machine’s last five ODI scores are: 8, 18, 0, 16, 17. This is the first time in the star batter’s career that he has gone through five consecutive innings without even reaching 20 runs.

In the first innings, all-rounder Hardik Pandya grabbed a career-best 4/24 as a disciplined India bowled out England for 259 with more than four overs to spare. Skipper Jos Buttler top-scored for England with an 80-ball 60.
Pandya later came in to bat when India were reduced to 72/4. He stitched a 100-plus stand with Rishabh Pant to take India close to the target. The Gujarat Titans captain was dismissed 71.

India captain Rohit Sharma has publicly supported Kohli twice so far during the white-ball leg of the England tour. He acknowledged that the former skipper was experiencing a “slump,” but he insisted that the team’s management had a strong belief in him.
