Surekha Sikri, who died at the age of 75 on Friday morning, was an epitome of grace and elegance. She was not only a great actor but a poet too and this side of her impressed many of her fans and followers.
The veteran actor gave a glimpse of her poetic inclination when she returned to the screen in the Netflix horror anthology “Ghost Stories”, a segment directed by Zoya Akhtar, of the four-segment film. The story featured Janhvi Kapoor.

Appreciating the maker, Sikri then told IANS, “Zoya is more complex than you see her. She is very poetic and she has feelings for things around her. The poem by Robert Frost that has been used in the film was so beautiful. I recited it and she used it aptly in the film.”
“I also wanted to recite the poetry of William Blake for Janhvi. Can I do it now?” And then she recited “The Sick Rose” for her young co-star The poem was written in 1794 and narrates how intense experience preys upon unpolluted innocence.

Many celebrities took to social media to share one such video where she is seen reciting a beautiful poem about life and its uncertainties. The 57-second clip has been first shared by Sunchika Pandey aka Twitter Madam, the lady behind Mumbai Police’s viral tweets.
“Your Voice, your poise, Rest In peace,” she captioned the video.
Sikri suffered a brain stroke in September last year and had been unwell since.
“Three-time national award-winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke,” the actor’s agent Vivek Sidhwani said in a statement.
“She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram,” he added.
Following her death, several of her colleagues, friends, and fans took to social media to offer condolences.
