South Africa batsman AB de
Villiers sent a message to his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate Virat Kohli during the India-England Test series earlier this year, the Protea revealed in a video posted by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise on Twitter on Friday.
Kohli scored a total of 172 runs in four Test matches, averaging
28.66 and then turning things around in the fifth Test with a 231-run innings
followed by soring a total of 129 in the three-match One Day International
(ODI) series.

“I don’t want to say. It’s embarrassing. I think I
mentioned four points. We spoke about couple of things away from the game and
then also couple of technical things but it was very basic,” de Villiers is
seen saying in the video, noting that Kohli reached out to him after his dry
run in the India-England Test series, and the South African knew what exactly
Kohli needed to hear.
“I really wasn’t surprised when I saw the message, and I
knew immediately that all he needs to hear is the basic stuff.

“Four points: see the ball, still head, allow the ball to come
into your space, body language and attitude, and then I sort of elaborated around
those four points, but, basics, eh?”, de Villiers is seen saying, reading out the
exact message he sent to Kohli.
Both AB de Villiers and Kohli are currently with the Royal
Challengers Bangalore squad in Chennai. The franchise, so far, has won both of its
matches in Indian Premier League 2021, and will be facing Kolkata Knight Riders
on Sunday.
