Every house in the parliament has its own presiding officer. The speaker and the deputy speaker is the presiding officer of the Lok Sabha.
The presiding officer is not merely an officer with ordinary powers. The speaker is the guardian of powers and privileges of all the members of Lok Sabha and the committees as well
