Chef Machindra Umakant Kasture from The Ashok Hotel won the Golden Hat at the 16th Annual Chef Awards and the 7th Chef Summit, organised and hosted by the Indian Culinary Forum (ICF), to celebrate the International Chefs Day on October 21 2019 in New Delhi. Celebrity chef and Padma Shri awardee Sanjeev Kapoor also graced the occasion, which was attended by envoys of five countries, a representative of the British Standards Institution, eminent members of the industry and over 400 guests.

The Silver Hat was jointly awarded to Chef Sanjay Agrawal and Chef Vivek Saggar, while Chef Rekha Sharma was adjudged the Lady Chef of the Year.

A jury comprising industry professionals, food critics and connoisseurs presented awards to chefs from across India in 15 categories such as Master Chef International Confectionery Award and Master Chef Indian Sweets Award. The annual Chef Awards is an “attempt to highlight Indian cuisine on international culinary map,” according to ICF.
