The Delhi High Court asked the Central government that why did Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra get more medical oxygen than they asked for, while AAP government’s request for allocation of oxygen to Delhi was not fulfilled.
Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli raised the query to the Centre during a hearing. They asked the government to either place some justifications for this to the court or “make amends” after the situation has come in the court’s cognisance.

Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India, said that central government will provide reasons as to why more oxygen was given to MP and Maharashtra.
He added, “There are states which received less than what they had asked for. We have been rationalising.”

Rahul Mehra, senior advocate, put a list of oxygen demand by several states and amount of medical oxygen that was allocated made to them, to the court. He said that Delhi was not being given the amount of oxygen it was asking for, while others are getting more than or close to what they have asked for.
The court was hearing several pleas on the oxygen crisis and other issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic which the national capital is presently grappling with.
