Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, recently met gold medallist Neeraj Chopra and he shared some glimpses of their meeting on his Instagram account. In an interview with ET Times, the filmmaker he jokingly asked Neeraj about his interest in acting and the athlete said he wanted to focus on his game.

Bhandarkar was in New Delhi on Independence Day as he wanted to meet the Olympic winners after their success. He also clarified that there was no motive of making any film about them now. Recalling Neeraj’s reaction, Madhur said he told Neeraj how he has become such a superstar and has so many fans from around the globe. “So, I jokingly asked him, ‘You are also very good looking, so ever thought of acting in films?’ Neeraj said he was not interested in acting and wanted to focus on his game. 

Madhur also met silver medallist Mirabai Chanu. He said that the athletes were overwhelmed with the love they have received. After ace shooter Abhinav Bindra, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is the second Indian to win an individual gold at the Olympics. Chanu bagged a silver medal for the country in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The athletes were hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Independence Day celebration. The pictures from the event went viral on social media. The PM shared an ice cream with bronze medallist PV Sindhu, which he had promised her. 

He was also seen eating churma with Chopra. Chopra had shared his love for the sweet dish after his win.

Chanu, who was also present at the event, was praised by PM Modi for rewarding the truck drivers who help her during her training days.
