An emphatic 317-run victory over England in the second Test on Tuesday moved India to second position in the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings issued by the ICC.
India, having levelled the Test series at 1-1 against England at Chepauk, have 69.7% percentage points (PCT) and 460 aggregate points, behind New Zealand who have qualified for the WTC final to be held at Lord’s Cricket Stadium, London in June.
With 70 PCT and 420 points, the Black Caps remain as the table toppers. Meanwhile, England slipped to the fourth spot, with 67% PCT and 442 points overall.

India lost the first Test by 227 runs against England at the same venue. As of now, they need at least one more win to make it to the WTC final. Previously, they were fourth before Tuesday’s result.
Virat Kohli’s men are currently playing in their sixth series of the WTC cycle, having won 10 matches, lost four and drawn one. Australia are at the third spot with 69.2 PCT and 332 points while England are fourth with 67.0 PCT and 442 points.

The third Test is going to be a day-night affair from February 24 at Ahmedabad.
