Janata Dal United’s Shrawon Kumar has won the Nalanda
constituency in the 2020 Bihar elections, defeating Jantantrik Vikas Party candidate
kaushlendra Kumar. Nalanda Vidhan Sabha constituency is a part of Nalanda Lok Sabha
constituency along with other assembly constituencies viz Rajgir, Harnaut,
Islampur, Hilsa, Asthawan and Bihar Sharif.

Shrawon Kumar of JD(U) has been the sitting MLA of the constituency since 1995. He was first elected to the
seat in the year 1995 on the ticket on Samata Party. In 2000 assembly, he again
won the Nalanda legislative assembly seat and during the 2005 assembly elections,
he joined the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and was again re-elected.

 In the 2015 Bihar elections Kumar won the constituency
by a margin of 2996 seats against Kaushlendra Kumar.
