Holi, the festival of colours, brings joy to all of us, but as we play with the chemicals, it damages our hair, split ends, hair loss, and what not. However, this does not mean we can’t be carefree this Holi, all we need to do is follow some pre and post-Holi hair care routine.

Here are some pre and post-Holi hair care tips you can follow:
1. Cut off split ends
The first step for your hair care for pre-Holi is chopping off your split ends. The chemicals in the colours can make your hair drier and with the existing split ends, the hair will be more damaged. Thus, cutting off those split ends before you start preparing for the festivities.
2. Oiling
The chemicals present in the colours tend to damage our hair. The best way to prevent this is to oil your hair properly before going out to play. Make sure you don’t shy away and use enough oil to grease your hair. The oil will not let the chemicals present in the colours get in the pores of your hair, thus, preventing damage. You can use any hair oil, preferably coconut oil will be good.

3. Braid your hair
Don’t leave your hair open, it will get entangled while playing with colours and chances of damage are open. Tying your hair into a braid will prevent maximum damage.
4. Shampoo your hair
After you are done playing with colours, wash off your hair with cold water and organic or sulphate-free shampoo. Make sure after shampoo, you use a conditioner on your hair.

5. Apply a hair mask
Even it has been a couple of days, don’t forget your hair needs deep nourishment as it lost a lot of moisture on Holi. To cure the damage, you can make a hair mask at home. Take lemon, eggs, yogurt, mix them, apply on your hair, from roots to ends, and then wash off. If don’t want to do this, opt for a hair spa treatment.
