“When you look at a person with a disability, very often you feel compassionate, you feel sorry for them, you know you’ll give money to them. I don’t think like that,” said Harshdeep Rai, the Founder and Group CEO of the Kaleidoscope Group while talking to fashion designer Varija Bajaj, on day one of the NationalAbilitySummit on December 2.

The two- day virtual will see the participation of over 50 speakers from 6 countries addressing physical and mental health for the global community at large. The event is spearheaded by Varija Life, a Not for Profit Organisation under the fashion and lifestyle brand Varija Bajaj

“The biggest challenge is the unfair judgment that people with disability face- they cant run business is a common perception but they are no less than anybody, Rai further said. He has had a successful career spent 23 years in the Investment Management industry including 13 years in the well-known Hedge Fund, Gartmore Investment Management. He spent a further 10 years working in Venture Capital and Private Equity

Talking about how the Government around the globe is helping disabled people take the forefront, Rai credits the UK government a lot.

“I will give a lot of credit to the UK govt talking about disability and starting their businesses. UK government is quite proactive in engaging disabled people but there is always more that can be done. Also, Governments around the world need to recognise entrepreneurship,” said Rai who took his education in International Business Law and graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies, The University of London.
