The BSE Sensex is now trading at 61761.61, up 455.66 points or 0.74 percent from its previous close of 61624.65. On the index, there were 21 stocks that advanced and 9 stocks that declined. The wider indices were trading in the green, with the BSE Midcap index up 1.53 percent and the Small-cap index up 1.17 percent.

The CNX Nifty is currently trading at 18493.55, up by 155.00 points or 0.85% after trading in a range of 18445.30 and 18524.40. There were 34 stocks advancing against 16 stocks declining on the index.

The top winning sectoral indexes on the BSE were Metal, up 4.47 percent, Power, up 3.42 percent, Utilities, up 3.36 percent, Basic Materials, up 2.66 percent, and PSU, up 2.17 percent, while Healthcare was the sole losing index, down 0.35 percent.

Titan Co gained 3.02 percent, Tata Steel gained 3.01 percent, Infosys gained 3.01 percent, Maruti Suzuki gained 2.28 percent, and ICICI Bank gained 2.13 percent on the Sensex. The biggest losers were HCL Tech., which fell 1.66 percent, Asian Paints, which fell 1.29 percent, Bajaj Auto, which fell 1.09 percent, Dr. Reddy’s Lab, which fell 0.91 percent, and Mahindra & Mahindra, which fell 0.53 percent.

Asian markets were trading mostly in red; KOSPI fell 6.57 points or 0.22% to 3,008.49, Taiwan Weighted dropped 43.15 points or 0.26% to 16,738.04, Shanghai Composite declined 12.41 points or 0.35% to 3,559.96, Straits Times trembled 1.67 points or 0.05% to 3,172.24, Nikkei 225 slipped 70.75 points or 0.24% to 28,997.88, Hang Seng decreased 77.39 points or 0.31% to 25,253.57. On the flip side, Jakarta Composite soared 33.49 points or 0.5% to 6,666.83.

The Gold prices on Multi commodity exchange (MCX), marginally increased on Monday, October 18, 2021. The Gold futures were trading at Rs 47287.00 up 74 points or 0.16% per 10 gms in the Indian market. In global markets, gold was priced at 1,767.57 USD per Troy ounce. Platinum was priced at $1,060.00 while Palladium was priced at $2,076.50. Silver futures were trading at Rs 63456.00 up 185 points or 0.29% per Kg.
