Elon Musk and Grimes called off their relationship on
Friday. The Tesla founder confirmed the split, telling Page Six that he and the pop star are now
“semi-separated” after dating for three years. But he added that despite the
breakup, they still get along and will continue to co-parent their one-year-old son, X Æ A-12 Musk.

He told the outlet, “We are semi-separated but still love
each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms. It’s mostly that
my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling
overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X
is in the adjacent room.”

X Æ A-12 Musk was born on May 4, 2020. In the same year, during
an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO deciphered how
to pronounce the name of his son.

He said that the baby’s name was given to him by his
girlfriend. “First of all, my partner is the one that, actually, mostly, came
up with the name,” the 48-year-old explained, adding, “Yeah, she’s
great with names.” “I mean, it’s simply X, the letter X, and
then the AE is pronounced like ‘ash’… yes… and then A-12 is my
contribution,” Musk added.

When asked why he selected A-12, Musk said that it was in
honour of the Archangel 12, the forerunner of the SR-71, which he called
“one of the greatest ever.” As a result, he said that the name is
pronounced “X-ash-A-twelve.”

baby.

Grimes walked the Met Gala red carpet alone earlier this
month. Musk, who was also in attendance, joined her inside.
