As Argentina plays a life or death match at the FIFA World Cup against Mexico, they are not having it easy with Mexican players sticking to them at all times giving them very little space to play their game.

While maintaining the high press game plan, the Mexican players are sometimes going overboard with their challenges on Messi and co. An arm out on Messi did not attract the referee’s attention and a raised foot that touched defender Lisandro Martinez’s face failed to amount to a yellow card.

The fans were clearly not happy with the referee and made their frustrations known on social media.

“This Argentina vs Mexico match isn’t football. It’s a Royal Rumble,” one fan on Twitter summed up the emotions of the match where 16 fouls were committed in the first 45 minutes.

Another fan found it hard to believe that there was actually a football match going on. The user posted this image on Twitter referring to the humongous amount of fouls committed by the players.

However, in spite of all the high press from Mexico, things turned around in the second half for Argentina. Their talisman Lionel Messi showed up and scored a stunning grounded volley in the 64th minute sending the stadium into a frenzy.

They held on to their lead tightly and did not give Mexico a chance to attack. Eventually, as the second half was just closing in, young gun Enzo Fernandez scored another for Argentina at the 87th minute and made it practically impossible for Mexico to get back into the game.
