On the third day of the 4th test match of India versus Australia, where Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur hit their maiden 50s, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took up the job of an anchor and quizzed the duo.
In a video tweeted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), R Ashwin is seen questioning Sundar and Thakur at The Gabba and decoded the duo’s century, adding 123 runs to India’s scoreboard when the team was struggling at 186/6, 66 overs into their first innings against Australia.

Sundar hit his test debutant half-century and also became the second Indian player to score 50 runs on his debut.
After the duo’s batting, Veteran cricketer Ashwin asked Thakur about his “Vivian Richards-Esque” cover drives, saying that it became a “high-seller” at the Indian dressing room.
To this, Thakur replied, “I haven’t practiced those, but you know it’s one of the days where I was batting really well and didn’t want to miss any opportunity.”

Pulling Sundar’s legs, Ashwin asked him, “Three wickets with the ball, Steve Smith’s wicket to start your Test career with and fifty with the bat, Test cricket must be easy right?” Sundar, on his prank, replied, “Not at all.”
Sundar scored 62 runs off 144 deliveries while Thakur scored 67 runs in 115 deliveries, boosting India’s total to 336, only 33 runs shy of Australia’s first innings total.
