As per media reports, the decision comes following his detainment on Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), Bob Huggins has decided to resign from his position as the head coach of the West Virginia basketball team.

Bob Huggins, also referred to as “Huggy Bear,” is a well-known college basketball coach in the United States. He was the men’s basketball team’s head coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Huggins has had prominent coaching positions at numerous organizations throughout his career, including Walsh College (1980–1983), the University of Akron (1984– 1989), the University of Cincinnati (1989–2005), and Kansas State University (2006–2007).

Huggins was honored with entry into the esteemed Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022 as a result of his enormous contributions to the sport. He holds impressive recognition in the realm of NCAA Division I men’s college basketball, as he is one of only six coaches to have achieved 900 or more career victories.

Last month, Huggins drew a lot of criticism after he used a homophobic slur in a radio show.

Recently, Huggins resigned from the position of head coach of West Virginia after he was detained for driving under the influence. Police arrested him after failed sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI, despite no incident, and was later released from custody after the legal procedure. Though he has been asked to report for the hearing.
