Thanks to an injury-time winner from Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund sealed a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Friday, to bury the ghosts of a disappointing result in the season opener last weekend.

After Hoffenheim substitute Munas Dabbur equalized in the 90th minute for the visitors, home fans would’ve had a sinking feeling but Haaland – who had endured a frustrating game – scored when it mattered the most a minute later.

The 21-year-old rifled the ball in under the bar at the third attempt after Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann had saved from substitutes Marius Wolf and Youssoufa Moukoko.

“He’s a machine,” fellow Dortmund scorer Jude Bellingham said of Haaland, according to the Associated Press inputs. “I haven’t got enough words to describe how good he is and how good of a guy he is.”

Dortmund, who slipped to a surprise 2-1 loss at Freiburg last weekend, drew the first blood through American international Gio Reyna.

Reyna became the youngest player to make 50 Bundesliga appearances — at the age of 18 years, 9 months, 15 days — and he celebrated by taking his tally to two goals from three consecutive starts in the league this season.

Christoph Baumgartner was booked seconds into the game after hitting Dortmund player Axel Witsel in the face with his elbow. It was one of the quickest yellow cards in Bundesliga history.

Minutes later, Andrej Kramaric struck the post for Hoffenheim, before Reyna wasted a golden chance with Baumann saving at the other end.

The visitors’ harsh tactics continued, with Stefan Posch receiving a yellow card for a reckless tackle on Mahmoud Dahoud in the seventh minute, but Dortmund pressed on.

Anewsigninghasbeenmade.Before the interval, Donyell Malen forced a fine save from Baumann, then Reyna scored with an unstoppable shot inside the far corner after being picked up by Bellingham, who is also 18.

Although in the second half, Hoffenheim improved, and Gregory Kobel made a superb stop to deny Kramaric in a one-on-one situation just before the 60-minute mark.

However, there was nothing Kobel could do to prevent Baumgartner from tying the game in the 61st minute with a low shot inside the far post.

Dortmund replied with Malen going close before Bellingham scored the home team’s second goal in the 69th minute after taking an attempted clearance on his leg.
