It’s finally time for the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend after four months of action! In a change of scenery, Salt Lake City, Utah, will play host to the All-Star festivities for the first time in thirty years.

The NBA’s brightest stars will descend in the Utah Jazz’s home arena, Vivint Arena from Friday, February 18 through Sunday, February 20, for a weekend-long exhibition of the league’s top athletes. The 72nd All-Star Game, which will cap off this year’s All-Star weekend and attempt to earn $1 million for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah and Raise the Future foundations, will be the culmination of a number of competitions.

The NBA app update:

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Friday unveiled new updates on the league app to kick off the All-Star weekend.

The league described the new update as the ‘streaming experience of the future ‘. After scanning oneself on the app, a user can virtually replace a participant. In short, this means that on the NBA app, you can insert yourself as a player into a live game!

The All-Star Celebrity Game features talents including rappers 21 Savage and Cordae, actors Simu Liu and Janelle Monáe, tennis player Frances Tiafoe, Football quarterback DK Metcalf, and singers Nicky Jam and Ozuna kicks off the weekend on Friday. The two teams’ coaches will be three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade and Utah Jazz governor and honorary captain Ryan Smith.

The Rising Stars game, which will take place later on Friday, will feature the top NBA freshmen and sophomore players. Then, the Skills Challenge, the Three-point Contest, and the Dunk Contest take place on a busy Saturday.

Finally, the All-Star Draft will take place on Sunday, with captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo choosing their teams one hour before the main event.
