India beat
England by a massive 151 runs in the second test of the five-test series on
Monday. The second India versus England test that saw India score an epic
victory against the home team at Lords was filled with drama.  The Indian team now has a 1–0 lead in the
series. Here, we look at some of the dramatic moments of the match that propelled
India to its rare victory at the Lords.

KL Rahul’s
century

KL Rahul’s
batting masterclass in the very first innings of the India-England test put
India on the driver’s seat. KL Rahul’s century at lords was aptly described as
a “knock for the ages”. The right-handed batsman scored his sixth century
before getting out for 129.

Anderson-Bumrah
bouncer drama

India’s
bowling attack did a splendid job to limit England’s lead in England’s first
innings. But an epic over by Jaspreet Bumrah to England’s number 11 batsman
James Anderson saw epic drama.

Bumrah’s first ball hit Anderson on the head and
he had to undergo a concussion test. But that did not deter Bumrah who returned
with a barrage of bouncers. However, not all of Bumrah’s attempts were
collected as he took 15 minutes to finish the over bowling 10 balls.

Patient Pujara
stands strong

The test
could well have slipped off India’s hands had it not been for Cheteshwar Pujara’s
solid defence in India’s second innings with the bat. Determined to stay on,
the patient Pujara took 35 balls to score his first run which saw the spectators
give him a standing ovation.

Rousing cheers followed Pujara’s knock when he faced
his 100th ball. Pujara’s laborious knock of 45 runs in 206 balls was part of
India’s comeback into the match after losing quick wickets initially.

Shami-Bumrah’s
last stand

Mohammed Shami
and Jasprit Bumrah, usually tasked with running through the opposition’s batting
line-up, put up a solid show of batting prowess themselves sharing an 89-run unbeaten
stand. The duo got together at the fall of the eighth wicket and effectively
pulled India out of trouble. Mohammed Shami scored a half century and Bumrah a
solid 36 to set a challenging target of 272 runs for the fourth innings.

Mohammed
Siraj runs through English line-up

When
England came into bat for the fourth innings in the fifth day of the match, the
test could have swayed either way. But Mohammed Siraj’s solid performance took
India through. Silencing anyone who criticised the Indian team’s decision to
pick Siraj for the match, he took four wickets enabling the English batting
line-ups complete collapse.
