Twitter trends are always fun and celebrities can often be found following them. Indian cricket team star Dinesh Karthik and his wife, Dipika Pallikal, who also represents India in squash, decided to follow one such trend on Friday, September 2, 2022.

The couple has their respective verified Twitter handle and at 3:29 pm, both accounts posted a mystique tweet, consisting of only one word. Dinesh Karthik’s tweet read ‘Dipika’, while Pallikal tweeted the word, ‘Dinesh’.

Many users could not understand the context behind those tweets and some thought these were unfinished tweets. Meanwhile, others pointed out that both the husband and wife posted each other’s first names on Twitter at the same time.

This is originally a part of a worldwide Twitter trend, where celebrities of different paths of life are posting one-word tweets. The trend started with Amtrak, a corporation that deals with passenger railroads in the United States and Canada. The company’s Twitter handle posted a one-word tweet on Friday, which described its brand. It read, “trains”.

The tweet was first thought to be a mistake by one of the company’s social media team members and quickly gathered more than 1.3 lakhs likes and started the trend.

Popular news network CNN posted “breaking news” while Major League Baseball (MLB) posted “baseball.”

It was continued by US President Joe Biden, who also joined the bandwagon and posted “democracy” on his Twitter feed. Meanwhile, Nasa tweeted, “universe”.

Seems like Dinesh Karthik and Dipika Pallikal have now intertwined themselves in the trend and likely began it in India.

Dinesh Karthik is now in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he is a part of India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022. The Men in Blue have begun their campaign with two consecutive wins over arch-rivals Pakistan and Hong Kong and have already reached the Super 4 of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Dipika Pallikal was part of India’s 2022 Commonwealth Games contingent, where she partnered with Saurav Ghoshal and claimed India’s second medal, a bronze, in squash.
