Former US President Donald Trump lashed out at the organisers of The Open Championship on Saturday saying that the tournament was better suited to have been played at his golf course in Scotland

The 2021 Open Championship golf tournament teed off on July 14 at Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, UK. It was earlier known as the British Open.

“I have spent some time watching The Open Championship, and it is terrific! But as almost all of the great players, sportscasters, and golf aficionados know, the greatest site and course of all for The Open is Turnberry, in Scotland. It is truly a magical place,” Trump said in a statement released by his spokesperson on Saturday.

Trump added that the course was not chosen because of his “false reputation” due to the media in the United States.

“This is, of course, a false reputation caused mainly by the Fake News Media. It is a shame that the phenomenal Turnberry Golf links, the best in the World, sits empty during Open Championships, while far lesser courses are on display. Oh well, life proceeds forward! Someday The Open will be back at Turnberry,”   he said.

Many businesses have stopped doing business with Trump after his supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6 to stop the confirmation of the results of the US presidential elections, which Trump claims to have won despite officials and courts saying the contrary.

Most of the social media companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube have taken down his profiles from their platforms. Many businesses have dropped their partnership with the Trump Organization since that day.
