Evan McPherson of the Cincinnati Bengals is an obvious choice for your NFL draft team. He is the only kicker to be picked in the 2021 NFL draft and if you are that kind of drafter who has to fill every position and not use two-way players, McPherson is the one to get.
Player Bio
Born on July 21,1999 in Port Payne, Alabama, McPherson represented the University of Florida in college football from 2018-2020 before choosing to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft. McPherson has held the starting role as University of Florida’s placekicker since his true freshman season when he earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors. He made 51-60 field goals for Florida, setting an SEC record for career field goal percentage, and added 149 of 150 extra-point attempts for his team on the field. He has made 5 of 8 career field goal attempts from at least 50 yards.
NFL career
Evan McPherson is yet to make his NFL debut and is a rookie. So we have the luxury of not judging him by mere NFL stats. He is a hot prospect as a kicker and for those of us who like to have an out-and-out kicker in the team, he becomes an obvious choice and maybe the best choice.
He was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft as a 149th overall pick. The 21-year-old signed his four-year rookie contract with the NFL outfit on May 17.
