Two days before the World Cup final match against Argentina, players for France Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate, and Kingsley Coman missed training on Friday due to cold-like symptoms, a source close to the team stated, reported AFP.

After winning the championship in Russia four and a half years ago, Les Bleus will attempt to win the World Cup for a second time in a row when they face Argentina on Sunday at Lusail Stadium. Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani scored goals for Didier Deschamps’ team in a 2-0 victory over Morocco to secure their spot in the championship game.

The French Football Federation (FFF) reported that Coman, a winger for Bayern Munich, had previously missed a training session on Thursday due to a “light viral syndrome.”

After Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano were both left out of the starting XI to face Morocco, the French team is starting to suffer from illness. The two were listed on the bench but were not risked for the match against the Atlas Lions because they became ill from the constant air conditioning in Qatar.

Following the game on Wednesday afternoon, Coman began to experience flu-like symptoms, and now L’Equipe has confirmed that he has contracted the sickness. The Bayern Munich winger was unable to play and missed lunch with his teammates as a result. Coman also skipped France’s recovery practise on Thursday night.

“Coman also had a fever this morning. In Doha, the temperatures have dropped a bit and you still have air conditioning on all the time. We have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms,” Deschamps said.

“We are trying to be careful so that it does not spread and the players have put in a great effort on the pitch and obviously their immune systems suffer. Dayot Upamecano felt bad immediately after the game against England. It happens when you exert yourself so much, your body weakens and you are more prone to getting these viruses,” he added.

“We’re taking all the necessary precautions, we’re trying to make sure it doesn’t spread, but viruses are of course infectious and we have to take precautions against them. We’ll separate him from the others and from Adrien as well,” he assured.

Rabiot will begin running again, and Upamecano will participate in the session now that they are both feeling better after a period of sickness. While Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, and Olivier Giroud all suffered minor injuries against Morocco, it is anticipated that they will be fine for the championship game.

It is not believed to be the ‘camel flu,’ as it has been called, which is the common moniker for MERS (Middle-Eastern Respiratory Syndrome). Coman will be in good shape to make the final roster, as will Karim Benzema, who might make an incredible comeback to the camp before the match with Argentina.

Due to a thigh injury sustained just before the World Cup in Qatar, Benzema was unable to compete. Deschamps could use the forward, who is still listed as a member of Real Madrid’s 26-man squad, as he has resumed training thereafter the France coach opted not to replace him.
