Former American basketball player, Deron Williams has always looked for new avenues of competition since he has retired from the NBA.
The former Utah Jazz guard showed off his golf skills in
the Provo Open but this time he is going to try something more physical.
According to a report from The Athletic, William is set
to enter the boxing ring and fight on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs Tommy
Fury match on December 18.

His opponent in the ring will be former NFL running back Frank Gore.
Williams played for the Jazz for part of six seasons after being taken with the No. 3 draft pick in 2005. He does not have any official bouts on his resume but he has turned his passion for combat sports into a post-NBA career. He is a partner in the Fortis MMA in Dallas, Texas, one of the top gyms in the country.

Last year, William told The Athletic that this is something he enjoys. This is not going to make him rich but according to rich is something that makes you happy and something you enjoy doing. He added that he enjoys being around these kids.
Williams, 37, has been taking part in combat sports since he was ever known for his killer crossover. As a kid, he won the Texas state wrestling title under 67 pounds and 112 pounds category. He wanted to play wrestling in high school, but it fell at the same time as basketball. He had to pick one.

Multiple All-Star appearances and a big bank account are proof that he picked the right one, but after retiring he is trying to return to his roots.
The 6-foot-3 former point guard would boast a six-inch height advantage over Gore, who is 38, in a potential bout.
Frank Gore, who last played for the New York Jets during the 2020 NFL season, ranks third all-time in career rushing yards with 3735 gained. Gore has yet to play this season and remains a free agent heading into Week 9. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and played the first 10 years of his NFL career there before stints in Indianapolis, Buffalo, Miami, and New York.
