Glenn Maxwell may have had a roller-coaster of an experience with the Indian Premier League (IPL) given his inconsistency. He is known for his big-hitting, and his ability to single-handedly take the game away from the opposition, but has been under continual criticism for not living up to expectations. But here is why the Australian will have a change in fortunes this season.
In the past, after a lean spell with Mumbai Indians, when Maxwell had a change of team, he had a blast of a season in 2014 with Punjab Kings and was very instrumental in their journey to the finals. And similarly, a change of team this time to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) might just give him the extra motivation to perform big and prove his worth again.
With Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers likely to take up the top-order positions in batting, Maxwell might not have a similar sort of an added pressure like he had at Punjab Kings to score big every time he steps on the crease. And this might just help him play naturally and be the player we all know.
RCB would thrive on Maxwell%u2019s three-dimensionality. Maxwell being a gun fielder and a handy bowler would provide that extra yard of balance to the team. With only four slots for foreigners in a team, his all-round abilities would be a bonus for RCB. And Maxwell would be rearing to give his all and bring home RCB%u2019s maiden title.
