The ICC men’s T20 World Cup was shifted from India to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the coronavirus pandemic. The inaugural edition, played in 2007, was won by India, who were captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
In the 2021 edition, the tournament’s first round will witness 8 teams in two groups. The two teams who finish top of their respective groups will move on to the Super 12 stage.
Oman, Bangladesh, Scotland and Papua New Guines are placed in Group A. In Group B, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, ireland and Namibia are clubed.
The Super 12 will have 2016 finalists West Indies and England in Group 1. They are joined by Australia and South Africa.
In Group 2, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan are put together.
