Bayern Munich edged past Paris Saint-Germain at Lisbon’s Estadio da Luz in the UEFA Champions League Final on Sunday, scoring the game’s only goal to seal their sixth European crown.
The gripping
contest was very finely poised in the first half, with both teams coming close to
drawing first-blood.
Bayern’s veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer pulled off a brilliant double save to deny
Neymar while Robert Lewandowski struck the post and had a couple of tame
efforts saved by Keylor Navas.
Tempers flared up at the beginning of the second half after Neymar went down following a challenge from Serge Gnabry, which was subsequently followed by a flurry of bookings.
It took
nearly an hour for the final’s first goal to arrive as former PSG player Kingsley
Coman headed in a clipped cross from Joshua Kimmich beyond Navas.
That proved to be the game’s only goal as Bayern expertly saw out the game and limited the PSG frontmen to very few chances.
