The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce team India’s T20 World Cup squad soon. The ICC’s cut off date for announcement is set at September 10. The World Cup, which is taking place in Oman and the UAE, will get underway from October 17, with the final to be played in Dubai on November 14.
The national selectors meeting is scheduled after India’s fourth Test against England, ANI’s sourced said.
“We are looking at Monday or Tuesday for now, but the date isn’t fixed yet. But it will happen by Friday as 10th is the ICC’s cut-off date,” the source said. So far, New Zealand and Australia have named their squads for the upcoming marquee event.
Here are Opoyi’s probable Indian squad for the T20 World Cup:
Batsmen: KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK) Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw and Virat Kohli
While KL Rahul’s red-ball form is doing the talking for him in the ongoing Test series against England, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan and Shikhar Dhawan also looked in fine touch when they locked horns with Sri Lanka in a limited overs series. Shreyas Iyer, now fit, is expected to make a comeback in the Indian side.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Krunal Pandya
The Pandya brothers have already showcased their might with both bat and ball and on the field. The younger one of them, Hardik, is more likely to get a spot in India’s squad. Ravindra Jadeja comes in as a reliable option, a bowler who can bowl tightly.
Spinners: Rahul Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal
We are taking Kuldeep Yadav out of the mix. The chinaman looked inconsistent versus Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Chahal displayed some clever bowling on slow wickets. In Rahul Chahar, India finds a natural wicket taker.

Pacers: Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami
With Bumrah, Bhuvi and Shami, India has one of the best death bowling options in limited overs cricket currently. Deepak Chahar has time and again delivered wickets with the new ball.
Coach: Ravi Shastri // Captain: Virat Kohli // Vice-captain: Rohit Sharma
In contention: T Natarajan, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson, Mohammed Siraj, Chetan Sakariya, Navdeep Saini
