Indian pacers ripped through the South Africa top order on day 3 of the first Test in Centurion with Jasprit Bumrah striking early to get the wicket of Proteas captain Dean Elgar. However, the fast bowler received an injury scare after he twisted his right ankle in a freak accident. While delivering the fifth ball of the 11th over of the South African first innings, Bumrah twisted his ankle due to which he couldn’t complete his over and had to be taken off the field to receive some treatment from the physio. Mohammad Siraj came in to deliver the last ball of the over.
BCCI provided an update on Bumrah’s injury, saying, “Jasprit Bumrah has suffered a right ankle sprain while bowling in the first innings. The medical team is monitoring him at the moment.”
Just minutes before the tea, Bumrah returned to the deck, giving Indian fans some relief.
